David E. Roth MD became the Medical Director of the Outpatient Center at Santa Rosa Behavioral Healthcare Hospital in 2021. He brings 25 years of experience to our program, along with his passion for patient care. He also brings a whole-person and family-oriented approach to our program, as he is a triple board-certified pediatrician, adult psychiatrist, and child & adolescent psychiatrist. Additionally, Dr. Roth is an internationally recognized telepsychiatry expert, and has published several books, articles and textbook chapters on the subject. His work in telehealth began in 2000, and he has been teaching physicians and allied health professionals how to practice high-quality telemedicine at regional, national, and international conferences since 2014. Dr. Roth co-authored the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s Telepsychiatry Practice Guidelines, and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s telepsychiatry training curriculum for psychiatry residency programs. He received his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, and earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville. He completed the triple board residency program at the University of Hawaii. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
